laheath 's review for:
Only Child
by Rhiannon Navin
Sometimes it just takes the voice of a child to put things into perspective. This was such a sad story of a family struggling with their new reality after their older son is killed in a school shooting. His 6-year-old brother survives and is the narrator throughout the book. His unique voice tells of the aftermath including the gamut of emotions that his family is experiencing. I felt the author did an incredible job of putting these complex feelings into the words of a 6-year-old while giving an accurate portrayal of the grief surrounding these circumstances and all the characters involved.
