As any good thriller should do, this book had quite some plot twists. However, I could see those coming from quite some distance and how it all worked out in the wasn't a surprise at all. I am not sure if that was the intention,  with carefully laid clues, or not. For me, it rather took the edge off. Also the elderly man trying to fight like a young person was a little bit unconvincing. What I did enjoy was the Dutch setting, with recognisable institutions and ways of working.
