One of my favorite science fictions to date. Touches on something ever human feels one time or another, the possibility of worlds where we made different choices and what they would would look like, who we would be. It’s fascinating and terrifying which I think the author encapsulated so well. 

“I thought I appreciated every moment, but sitting here in the cold, I know I took it all for granted. And how could I not? Until everything topples, we have no idea what we actually have, how precariously and perfectly it all hangs together.”
