This book held a lot of promise. The concept of people going through Trials to earn their powers was really cool, it just didn’t work here.
The world we are introduced to is broken up in the UnTrialed(powerless) and the Trialed(powerful). With all the fear surrounding the Trial I expected it to be, well, challenging. It’s over very quickly and very painlessly. I’m not sure why more Untrialed, considering how terrible their lives are, aren’t lining up to try it.
I would say it’s a fast paced, okay read. I wasn’t really concerned or connected with any of the characters, or events but it’s the authors first book I believe and there is potential here. Especially sense she’s writing more books for this series. Unfortunately I’m not sure I’ll continue it myself.
