The Ghost of Grania O'Malley
by Michael Morpurgo
adventurous
lighthearted
fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
A far fetched novel and the first Morpugo one I’ve read which really feels and reads like a children’s book.
It does in fact contain a ship, on theme for the author. Off theme is the use of magical realism, which does sort of add to the story, but it’s no rival to Garcia Marques and did make me laugh at how ridiculous it was at times
Still, I’d say 2.5 is more than fair and anymore who, for example, rated it 1 star, is dead inside and an overly harsh critic. Maybe it’s my bias for the author but it wasn’t thaaat bad
