Wages of Sin by Jenna Maclaine

5.0

I love books about vampires, and have read many of them. Up to now, I thought that the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost was going to forever be my favourite and that all the others would be second in my heart. Then I read this book and now my heart will have to share the vampire crown because I LOVED THIS BOOK!

Honestly, I can't believe it took me so long to read it. I bought this book ages ago and it sat on my bookshelf. I don't know why I hadn't gotten around to reading it before, but I am so glad I finally did because if you like vampires this is an amazing entry to the genre.

First off Cin is a fantastic character! She is smart, confident, kind, stubborn, funny and loyal to the people in her life. She cares for her family and handles all kinds of crazy, both before and after her parents are killed at the beginning of the story. As a witch, she has extra abilities, and a wonderful group of supporting characters around her who help her along.

Once circumstances oblige Cin to summon The Righteous [a trio of vampires who hunt and punish vampires who break the accepted rules] all hell really breaks loose, and she has choices to make and battles to fight, and changes to deal with. The journey makes for a cracking good read!

There is so much in this book that makes it great - the battles are epic, the characters are wonderful [and the women are just as kick-ass as the men which is a big plus for this reader], and the character development and relationships between characters - especially Cin and Michael - are delightful.

There was absolutely nothing about this book that I didn't love. It is definitely one of my favourite reads ever, and I've already ordered books 2 & 3 because I can't WAIT to continue with Cin's story. Love, love, LOVED this book!!
