Super creepy and not great to read late at night after everyone has gone to bed. I live in a creaky two story house and now I'm looking up at the ceiling every time I hear creaking up there. Having said that, the long monologues/confessionals from the adults while they think Bela is sleeping got a bit tiresome. The only one I really liked was Grandma talking about not letting those bad feelings and resentments become statues in your house. Well said. I ended up feeling a sense of horror at the absolute relentless nature of Other Mommy. The despair Bela had in knowing she would have to cave at some point was just dreadful. All in all a good, scary story.
