Grayson, Volume 3: Nemesis by Tom King, Tim Seeley
5.0
Wow, this was actually really good. The second volume was an absolute disaster - so boring and unimaginative. But this one was action-packed and brought Grayson’s personality to the fore. He was a bit too talkative at times, to his own detriment, but an all in all great guy.
I loved seeing the Bat family. Man, those characters was always a delight to behold. But the way Dick’s history with these characters was laid out, didn’t work. Dick meeting his family after a long exile and having to confront the lie he told them would have manifested itself in a different way. It’s just not believable in the format chosen.
The art is just breath taking. I feel like the art got even better in this volume. So stunning; Dick looks like he could walk off the page. The realism is astounding. Not sure why the art changed in the final issue. In fact, I’m not sure what the final issue was for. Seemed like an attempt to soothe Superman rather than focus on Dick.
After being so disappointed in the first two volumes, I ended up really enjoying this one. Is it the lack of female characters? That’s probably why, the male authors couldn’t ruin them with poor characterization and dialogue.
