Graphic: Mental illness, Panic attacks/disorders, and Injury/Injury detail
Western Romance featuring Emmy Ryder and Luke Brooks. Emmy came from a small town called Meadowlark, WY. She was a professional barrel racer who suffered a traumatic accident that forces her to return home and leave her profession. After the accident, she suffers from panic attacks and PTSD, and was unable to ride again. While at home she contemplates her future; she also runs into a family friend, Luke Brooks. Now that theyโve both grown up they are both seeing each other for the first time as adults, and sparks fly. Luke tries to reason with himself that this is his best friendโs little sister but he just canโt resist Emmyโs look and charm.
I truly enjoyed the book! I familiarized myself with Emmy with her having anxiety attacks/panic attacks. As well as her diagnosis with ADHD; I still feel like I suffer from that daily. I loved the chemistry and the banter between Luke and Emmy. Luke was a very Alpha male made into a downright cinnamon roll (turns into mush) over Emmy. I was not expecting the spice level in this book, but we are HERE FOR IT. Luke has that bad boy dominance in the spicy scenes and Emmy eats it all up, while also having her moments. I love the way Luke has patience with Emmy and gives guidance that helps her recover from her past trauma with the accident. Emmy overcoming her fears and figuring out what it was like to really love someone throughout the process. It was all the little moments in this book that made me fall in love with it. Emmy is an easy-going loveable FMC, and Luke is adorable and cares so deeply. Ms Lyla, thank you for creating a beautiful, strong, imperfect, relatable, and bada** woman for us all to have in our hearts.
If you love a comfy and cozy read, then I definitely recommend this book! The hype around this book is well deserved. I absolutely cannot wait for the second one to come out to hear Wes and Ada's story!
