Buddhism for Beginners by Thubten Chodron

4.0

I knew nothing about Buddhism when I started this book. Now I feel like I get the gist and I have a good basis to study it more. Exactly what it says on the cover.

I found the explanations simple enough for a beginner, but I'm in STEM and play complex tabletop games with rulebooks the size of a dictionary. Terminology is consistent and explained clearly.

Asian terminology is mentioned but usually explained and translated, and English terminology is used the majority of the time for clarity for beginners. The book clearly denotes and explains connotation differences in translation. I'm grateful for this. A lot of my initial struggles with introductions to Buddhism stem from not understanding the many words that stem from unfamiliar languages. You don't need to know all the terms to understand the concepts as an English speaker.
