The Tea Dragon Festival is in the same world as The Tea Dragon Society, but set years before, with a new main character. Two of the main characters from before do appear, Erik and Hesekiel, but at a quite different stage of their lives, which was pretty cool -- I'd already got fond of them from their appearances in The Tea Dragon Society.

We also get to see a bit more of the world: a few more types of tea dragons, a different way of seeing tea dragons, and a glimpse of slightly more familiar dragons.

Rinn's story isn't quite the same as that of the previous book, but it is still about finding your way, finding what you're meant to do. It remains fairly gentle (though there is a fight between Aedhan the dragon and an attacker, leading to injury).
