Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez
5.0
It has taken me far too long to write this review, but I was trying so hard to come up with the right words to express my love for this book.
And to be honest, I donโt think I will be able to really give this book the justice it deserves, so I am going to sing its praises and tell you:
๐. ๐๐๐๐๐ฟ. ๐๐๐๐. ๐ฝ๐๐๐.
I did not know what to expect and had read so many rave reviews for this book that I will be honest, I was a tad worried going into it with all the hype. But I was NOT disappointed and was hooked from the very first page.
I mean it starts with a post on Reddit that was hilarious.
Justin and Emma are chefโs kiss. It may be safe to say that Justin has taken top spot for favourite book boyfriend.
And Maddy is the best friend we all deserve and need. I loved her in your face, donโt take no shit attitude!
Jimenezโs writing is spectacular, and her mental health representation in this book was so well done.
This was my first Abby Jimenez book (๐ ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ธ, ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ฏ'๐ต ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ต ๐ฎ๐ฆ, ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ญ), and I cannot wait to read more from her!
Oh, and I will leave you with these words โ ๐๐ค๐๐ก๐๐ฉ ๐๐๐ฃ๐. ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐, and if you donโt, well go read this book ๐
A few of my favourite quotes from the book:
โIf you can choose anger or empathy, always choose empathy.โ
โMaybe home isnโt a place. Maybe itโs a person.โ
โBecause when youโre in love, you do hard thingsโ
