Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez

5.0

It has taken me far too long to write this review, but I was trying so hard to come up with the right words to express my love for this book.

And to be honest, I donโ€™t think I will be able to really give this book the justice it deserves, so I am going to sing its praises and tell you:

๐™„. ๐™‡๐™Š๐™‘๐™€๐˜ฟ. ๐™๐™ƒ๐™„๐™Ž. ๐˜ฝ๐™Š๐™Š๐™†.

I did not know what to expect and had read so many rave reviews for this book that I will be honest, I was a tad worried going into it with all the hype.    But I was NOT disappointed and was hooked from the very first page.
I mean it starts with a post on Reddit that was hilarious.

Justin and Emma are chefโ€™s kiss.  It may be safe to say that Justin has taken top spot for favourite book boyfriend.

And Maddy is the best friend we all deserve and need.  I loved her in your face, donโ€™t take no shit attitude!

Jimenezโ€™s writing is spectacular, and her mental health representation in this book was so well done.

This was my first Abby Jimenez book (๐˜ ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ, ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ'๐˜ต ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ, ๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ), and I cannot wait to read more from her!

Oh, and I will leave you with these words โ€“ ๐™๐™ค๐™ž๐™ก๐™š๐™ฉ ๐™†๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ.   ๐˜๐˜ ๐˜’๐˜ ๐˜’, and if you donโ€™t, well go read this book ๐Ÿ˜Š

A few of my favourite quotes from the book:

โ€œIf you can choose anger or empathy, always choose empathy.โ€

โ€œMaybe home isnโ€™t a place.  Maybe itโ€™s a person.โ€

โ€œBecause when youโ€™re in love, you do hard thingsโ€
