The Dark Ship by Anne Bishop
4 stars - It was really good

This was a short story set in a small sea village in Cel-Romano. This is the story of Vedette who is a young woman who has the ability to know things about water and boats. She is an inuit stuck in a village that will kill her if they find out. She is also stuck working for her abusive father and stepmother.

I really enjoyed Vedette’s story. She was a smart, determined, and compassionate woman. She risked her life to save an Other and they returned the favor by saving her. I liked how she was willing to sacrifice herself to save others, and wasn’t afraid of condemning bad people to death. I really hope we get more short stories set in this world because it is a fascinating world with great characters.

Trigger warnings: Heroines face was cut up by her abusive father and she was later sold by him.

The Dating Terrors by Patricia Briggs
5 stars - I loved it!

This is the fourth date for Asil, and like usual, it doesn’t go as planned. His date is with Ruby, a half-fae who is in trouble and is seeking help. I really love this little story. Ruby was a fascinating woman and I really hope we see more of her. Also, I can’t wait to see how Asil will change after this now that his wolf is starting to talk a little. I really hope we get another date story now.
