Ozland by Wendy Spinale is the finale to her Everland trilogy. I loved the way these books retold the fairytales of our childhood, but I did feel like Ozland dropped the ball with the Oz references. Both Everland (Peter Pan) and Umberland (Alice in Wonderland) we’re clear off the bat from their character names to the way those characters acted and interacted. Ozland’s characters didn’t feel as distinctly Oz, which was a bit disappointing, since the Wizard of Oz, out of the three stories, was the one I grew up most familiar with. That being said, the story itself was still interesting and fast-paced. I was able to finish this book in a few hours, much like the two before it. If you’re a fan of retellings, I would definitely check this series out, but just know that the Oz references are vague or heavily veiled, compared to the obvious nature of the first two books.
