This Here Flesh: Spirituality, Liberation, and the Stories That Make Us by Cole Arthur Riley

challenging informative reflective medium-paced

5.0

Wow,

There are not often times that I am left speechless, but my goodness. This book was beautifully written. I did a combination of listening to the audiobook and reading via eBook and goodness. I immediately went to get the ebook because I wanted to highlight and save parts of this book to keep forever. I feel like this book will stay with me for a while, as I continue to navigate the world as a Black woman.

I feel like I've never read the way that I experience God and spirituality in a book before, but Cole Arthur Riley feels God the same way I do. My two favorite chapters were Rest & Joy. Rest, because it challenged me and Joy, because it affirmed me. The pacing, the vulnerabilities, the theology - all beautiful. Honestly, this might be my book of the year, of my lifetime.  I will be recommending this to everyone forever.
