The Boy Meets Girl Massacre by Ainslie Hogarth

4.0

This was an interesting read.

It dragged in a couple of places, but it didn't bother me as much as it could have, since this was written in diary format and, in the interest of realism, sometimes a person's entries aren't always going to be action-packed.

Noelle was an interesting protagonist because her voice came off as a bit... Odd. The way she wrote, the language she used- she almost came off as a bit childish, a bit younger than she actually was. Which I liked, because I felt like it made her unique, and definitely made the situation a lot more eerie, especially when stuff began to happen.

The story was certainly scary in some parts, but it seemed to be focused less on the outright horror than it was the threat of it lurking around the corner. Which, again, makes sense, since this is all stuff getting translated from real life into a diary, and the audience has to infer a lot of things from the way Noelle writes them.

Good read.
