Sterling Justice-Motion to Strike (Sterling Chains prequel): A Steamy Romantic Urban Fantasy Suspense Novel by Vee R. Paxton, Vee R. Paxton

3.0

My rating ended up being 3 stars.

The storyline focuses on Jack and his instantaneous relationship with Audrey after he finds her in his law office unauthorized and snooping in his files. This ‘relationship’ just seems a bit off - Jack is completely into Audrey and she seems to strike his ego while staying a bit detached.

Jack’s best friend Ash is also a big focus of the storyline as he investigates the murder of Jack’s law partner.

While Jacks connection with Audrey is sexy and steamy, it lacks depth and emotion. I almost wondered if she had cast a spell on Jack to have him so enthralled with her.

The ending is what really killed my interest and moderate interest in this book. I had read reviews indicating the ending abruptly jumps forward in time and was awkward. Even expecting it, I was jarred. Those last few chapters might set up the Unchained series, but I’m not so sure I’m interested in reading it. This was my 2nd book by Vee, and I loved One with the Wolf, and was excited to read this book, unfortunately I was disappointed with the experience.

Other readers may have a different experience and a more positive opinion of this book so give it a fair chance. My meh reaction may be something you love.
