Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
5.0
I've really enjoyed all Liane Moriarty's books, but this one was a 5 star for me. For a 5 star, it has to pull at my emotions - and it did. I also stayed up way too late reading to try to find out what exactly happened.
It's not really chick lit and it's not a true mystery (in that you have a body and need to know whodunnit). There is a body but we don't even know whose body it is until near the end. I'd call it light contemporary that is easy reading but makes you think and has a twist to it.
I haven't seen the TV series, and I believe that makes the book better. Obviously if you've seen the show and know what happens, all the suspense will be gone. However, I do also think this could be a book that is good on a second reading - you'll get more from all the little snippets that are scattered throughout. A good book to end the year with :)
