The Night Before by Wendy Walker

Thanks to NetGalley for the arc to review!

So I really wanted to like this one. I enjoyed Walker's previous work, Emma in the Night, and thought this one would hit the same buttons. Sadly, it did not.

I did enjoy the set-up of the novel. The story bounces between Laura as she moves through her date and Rosie, who is dealing with the aftermath the next day. The reveals corresponded well between the perspectives/timelines and I think they paired together nicely. Rosie's sections were a great deal more interesting to me. Laura had me... annoyed. Her sections were boring to me, filled with annoying chatter and repetitive musings. She ignored so many red flags it became irritating and completely unrealistic and her 'not like other girls' attitude was tiresome.

I ended up dnfing this book at 45%. I couldn't push through any further. I think that many thriller fans could appreciate and enjoy this book but it just didn't do it for me.
