The book was definitely not what I was expecting. I was expecting to get the story that was told in the movie, but instead got the stories surrounding how Eugene Allen's life came to be known and adapted to film. It's kinda like reading a special feature about the movie. I still enjoyed what I learned from the book and the deeper historical and personal context given for the stories, but I have to read the original news article and watch the movie to get the story I thought I'd get. But I'm not too upset about that ;)
