I just love these books. I love watching Ada learn words. I love watching her find her place in the world. I love that things get better for Ada and Jaime, but not magically better. I love that people who need each other, find each other, even when such connections are fraught with difficulty. I love Bradley's realism and pragmatism about PTSD. These are the kind of books kids who are struggling can read to learn that other people understand how hard their lives are and that it is possible to live through tremendous difficulties.
