Luckiest Girl Alive
by Jessica Knoll
I think most of the fiction books written in the past couple of years have been compared to Gone Girl and this is no exception. This is NOT Gone Girl, but it wasn't bad. Ani has worked very hard to cultivate the image of perfection that shows the world. But she has a secret -- a tragedy from when she was in school. Other reviewers complained that Ani wasn't very likable, that she is shallow and too focused on appearances, and I would agree, BUT, I also could empathize with the desire to appear a little more together than you feel inside. Chapters alternate between present day and the year of the "incident". The mystery of what happened was interesting enough to keep me reading.
