Finding Me: A Memoir by Viola Davis

4.0

I find it quite hard to rate memoirs, because their essentially a persons life story, and shouldn't really be ranked and can't really be compared to nonfiction. But, for the sake of it all I'll still do it. I read this as an audiobook and Violas narration was very good. Learning about Violas life was also very interesting and I was surprised to find that she has lived such a difficult life. I know her from How To Get Away With Murder, and loved her in that role, but didn't know anything about her personal life before this.
I found the first half of the book a little dragged out and repetetive. Her childhood years takes up a bigger portion of the book than what I would've preferred. The second half though had better pacing and I found it very interesting to hear about how she grew her career and the difficulties of the industry.
