Anne of the Island
by L.M. Montgomery
A jolly delightful jamboree with chums.
Wholesome, saccharine, mildly whimsical. All you want from a good LMM book.
Obviously dated by now, but still not hopelessly sexist (plenty of happy, non-pitied spinsters! And yay women getting BAs!) Minus points for the animal cruelty (I know it was a different time but I had to skim it anyways). Davy is still a brat but he’s blessedly less important now and there’s less Dora bashing.
