The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë
5.0
I love this book! I adore the main characters and their relationships. Anne Bronte really outdid herself with this one and I'm so sad it isn't talked about as much.
Bronte uses this book to criticize the Victorian family, overindulgence she saw in the upper classes, and the gender roles prescribed to women in marriage. She was very real in the struggles of Helen and how terrible her marriage was. Reading this book, I could see the reality of marriage back then and how many women struggled under it.
It also is a sweet love story with a wonderful ending. Her characters truly adore and admire each other.
