Having read both books, I can say that the presence of the mafia is very minor in this book, but is very prevalent in the second. This one is almost exclusively about building a relationship between Dove and Zane; leading me to presume that the author wanted to have their relationship established before introducing external factors in the duet. The writing is good, as is the plot—although at times it felt redundant.

It’s important to note that the hero is basically the heroines stalker—he openly admits to being obsessed with her. If this is a relationship dynamic that bothers you, then you probably shouldn’t read it. If you like your heroes to have sociopathic tendencies that don’t extend to their feelings towards the heroine, then give it a shot.
