I enjoyed the atmosphere, the gothic feel and the concept of this book. However, I found the logic behind the main character's motivation unrealistic at times, which brought me out of the story.
I also wished there was more creepiness' and horror just based on my own taste.

But overall it was a decent book.

I find Caitlin Starling is good at bringing in mental health issues and mental strain in her horror writing which sometimes is over looked in horror but logically in these terrible situation one would be stressed which could effect their mental health. This is seen in this book and her pervious The Luminous Dead.
