cherrywood 's review for:
This Is What Happy Looks Like
by Jennifer E. Smith
Sunrises over the harbor. Ice cream on a hot day. The sound of waves down the steeet. The way my dog curls up next to me on the couch. Evening strolls. Great movies. Thunderstorms. A good cheeseburger. Fridays. Satersays. Wednesdays, even. Sticking your toes in the water. Pajama pants. Flip-flops. Swimming. Poetry. The absence of smiley faces in an email.
And that, is what happiness looks like.
The first thing that pops into my mind when I saw the title of this book is that: wow, I guess this book will make you happy. And sure enough, it did.
Know any good sailing jokes?
I've got one about seagulls.
Okay.
Why do seagulls fly over the sea?
Why?
Because if they flew over the bay, they'd be bagels.
Unfortunately, I guess because I have a supper high expectation before going into this book, when I actually get to it, I was kind of disappointed. Yes, it did make me happy at parts, but at other parts, I was actually kind of bored. It just feel like the same thing keeps on happening again and again. But overall, this book is not bad. Although I probably wouldn't reread it, and I'm still trying to decide whether to read the sequal or not.
