Just about the most brutal book I have ever read. For about a half of it, it leaves you wondering just where the plot is, because all you get is violence upon violence upon violence. And then it hits you, that IS the plot.

The promise of a haunting antagonist delivered for sure, what made judge Holden even more terrifying is a research I did on my own, the fact that he's based on a real person and the horrible deeds he has done. Haunting and terrifying.
