The Picture of Dorian Gray and Three Stories by Oscar Wilde

4.0

Only read Dorian Gray, I've already read "The Happy Prince" in college.

I have wanted to read The Picture of Dorian Gray for so long, and Wilde doesn't disappoint. I know the story (seen the movie!) but the novel's greatness isn't in the plot, but in Wilde's wit and facility with language. So much of the novel is poetry -- especially that chapter which describes all of Dorian's possessions, with all its allusions to Renaissance literature, agh it is so beautiful. I am glad to finally have read and finished this story.
