Looking for You by Kelly Elliott

5.0

'It's time to say a fond--yet bittersweet--farewell to Boggy Creek and to Kelly's Boggy Creek Valley series, with Kyle Larson and Everly Higgins. A fitting finale for a truly unforgettable five star series!'

*Note: I will not be putting any spoilers into my review for Looking For You, but I will be occasionally referencing as loosely as I can, the other books in the series. If you don't wish to know anything about the series--if you are choosing to read them back-to-back after Looking For You comes out, please stop reading this review from this point. Thank you! :) *

Just over a year ago, Kelly released the first book in her then brand new Boggy Creek Valley series. A new book series is always exciting as it is bittersweet to say goodbye to previous characters in prior series' we've become familiar with, and this series was no different. Things kicked off with Aiden and Willa in The Butterfly Effect. I am the proud owner of the paperback of this book, and I cannot wait until all six books join the beautifully designed cover. Kudos to Kelly's niece for designing all the covers in this series, she's a credit to herself and to Kelly's work.

From The Butterfly Effect, things blossomed with the books that followed; Playing With Words (Hudson & Greer), She's The One (Bishop & Abby), Surrender To Me (Hunter & Arabella), Hearts In Motion (Luke & Brighton) & last but no means least, Looking For You (Kyle & Everly). I love all of these books with equal measure, but my top three are Playing With Words, Surrender To Me and Looking For You, then followed by the other three.

Now, on to the book of the moment, Looking For You.

Kyle Larson was the man we've all been waiting for, for the longest time. Seeing his appearances only warranted us to look even more forward to this read where he finally gets his own story alongside his leading lady. Enter, Everly Higgins. You may or may not recognise the latter last name but if you don't, go back and read Playing With Words. Kyle Larson is his own very kind of special breed. Forget book boyfriends here, we're looking at a man who is book husband worthy. You'll see why when you read it, but if there was a concoction of all the right ingredients to make both the perfect man fictional and in the real world, Kyle would be the blueprint. Kelly has outdone herself with this man, and I cannot wait for you all to finally meet him.

Everly Higgins herself enters the story with quite a bang. A mysterious bang. Slowly her story unfolds over the course of this book and hats off to Kelly for this one, it was a step away from the small-town storyline somewhat, but it shows that Kelly does have what it takes to keep things interesting and the pace going strong. Her job, which is described in detail and visited frequently throughout the book, only fuels the fire as to why Everly--as outlined in the blurb--fuels the mystery as to why she was brought to Boggy Creek, and to Kyle. His cops instincts kick in, and like a dog--or rather, Cat (you'll understand soon!) with a bone--he won't stop until all the missing pieces to the puzzle are in place. The story is intriguing, action-packed at times, full of mystery and of course, sizzling tension between Mr Larson and Miss Higgins.

Kelly has really given it her all to give this story, and series, a finale story to go out with a bang on and the fruits of her well-written labours show within this unputdownable novel. Everything you love about the previous books in the series has been woven within the pages of this one, bringing a wholesome, full-circle feeling. Ends are slowly tied up, new things begin, and get your fans ready ladies, Kyle Larson knows how to swoon not only Miss Higgins, but us the reader. And that's only the beginning of the incredible nature of Kelly's unmatchable character writing. The chemistry between Kyle and Everly? I think these two are perfection personified and are the very definition of soul mates.

I simply cannot speak highly enough about Kelly, her work or this novel in particular. Looking For You is the perfect ending to a series I will be recommending to people for a very long time, and although it is bittersweet to say goodbye to the BCV crew, finishing this novel makes me want to pick it up again from the very beginning. A binge and re-read worthy series if ever there was one!

The gang's all here, and they're waiting for you to say a fond farewell to Boggy Creek Valley and its players. So grab a comfy spot, stock up on your favourite snacks and beverages and prepare to turn those pages until there are no more left to turn.

Thank you for an incredible ride and series of adventure with these characters, Kelly. Thank you so, so much!

Five stars for Kyle, Everly, the Boggy Creek Valley series, and for Kelly Elliott!
