A Dark and Drowning Tide by Allison Saft

4.0

This was an entertaining twisty read, it was a bit slow at the start and somewhere in the middle it lost itself a bit, but the ending made up for it all!

I didn’t really like any characters to begin with, but as the story progressed and we learned more about them, I liked Lorelei and Sylvia both together and as individual characters.

This story never gives you a true villain, it touches on the subject that the people around us can do bad things when they want to survive, do the best for their people and put the world to right. It shows each character with their flaws and weaknesses and how they act really shows that it is just their flaw that is making them act like that.

The worldbuilding and idea of people living among mythical creatures is so well done, there even is a few that I would love to meet (even if it may promise death)
