A remarkable short novel that somehow both explores the brutality of occupation but also how mundane it has become to many. Split into two parts, Adania Shibli carefully details the tale of two characters on opposite sides of a war and century, to beautifully and concisely glance back at how we got here and how bad here is. The second part in particular, is gripping, heartfelt, and god does it end in a way that has you gasping.
