Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé

So this was SOMETHING else. I did NOT like this book all that much for the first 50% of it. It was boring, I didn't like the characters, I didn't care what happened to them and I didn't care to figure out who this ace guy was. BUT around the 50% mark I started to care about the characters little by little and 69% in I cared. BUT I was not sure about the direction the book was going. Part of me didn't want it to go the direction it did. I felt conflicted. So I had to step back.

When I returned, I was ready for the direction it was going and found myself enjoying the book. Even loving the ending. I did listen to the audio book for most of it and I really appreciated hearing the authors reasoning behind the book. I wish this "far fetched, crazy story" wasn't something I wouldn't be surprised about if I found out was happening to someone in the real world. (which says a lot about the world we live in).

It made me upset, it got me thinking, and gave me lots of feels.
