I want to call this a lovely novel, but that seems to trivialise the content. James has a wonderful sense of humour in addressing some fairly dark elements of society. The juxtaposition of the tranquil Staffordshire countryside and the violent themes that accompany the topic of the undead is delicious.

In addition, there are some unexpected romantic twists.... I received this book in my 'A Box of Stories' subscription, and I now need to figure out if she has any further books in the Lavington Windsor series because for the first time in my reading history I am actually hoping for the enemies to lovers trope to appear
