Luck of the Devil (The Forge Trilogy Book 2) by Meghan March

Narrated by Joe Arden and Erin Mallon

Contemporary Romance/Suspense. Does not stand alone.

*Spoiler/Story Free*

Holy Sh!t. Meghan March has outdone herself with The Forge Trilogy. I absolutely loved the first book in the series, Deal with the Devil, and you must read that first (see my review). But Luck of the Devil was even better. I re-listened to the first so it was all fresh in my head, then jumped right into Luck of the Devil, and apparently, the world went on while I listened, but I didn’t notice.
“Because you’re not a means to an end any more. You’re inside me. In my head. In the blood running through my fucking veins. If you go, you take all that with you, along with my fucking sanity.”

Oh, how I love Jericho Forge! The ruthless shark has a super soft underbelly, and I loved discovering it. There is so much that happens in this book, so many twists and turns, yet we also really got to know the characters as they got to know each other.
"Brick by brick, the wall around my heart is crumbling."

And we got to see their relationship blossom despite all the craziness. Their relationship is intense and erotic, yet you can really feel the passion, love, and trust that begins to develop.

One thing about Meghan March: You never know what the hell will happen. She isn’t afraid to take her stories places that others never venture to. As soon as you are sure things are one way, you find out you are wrong.
"Where you go, I go. Even if it’s overboard."

I’ll be honest. I normally hate trilogies. I don’t have the memory or the patience for them, but Meghan March is one of two exceptions to the rule for me. I actually love them because it just means there is more to come. With three books to develop the story, you are really able to get into the story, and I never found one thing lacking.
"I want to slay fucking dragons for this woman - even though I'm one of them."

I am so stupidly excited for Heart of the Devil, I have no clue how it will all wrap up.

Likes:

  • •Indy is one of my favorite female characters. She is strong, confident, smart and brave.

  • •OMG Jericho. While he may have seemed cold and ruthless in the first book, we saw a whole new side to him in this one.

  • •So many twists, turns, and surprises, it really kept me on my toes and it was unputdownable.

  • •A cameo from another book.

  • •The sex in this book is just perfect. Hot, a little on the dirty side, but it never overpowered the story.

  • •The perfect ratio of suspense to romance.

Dislikes:

  • •I can’t think of even one small thing.

The Narration:

You can never go wrong with Joe Arden and Erin Mallon. I actually think her Jericho is as sexy as his! I think their narration made the book even better.

The Down & Dirty:

No doubt about it, The Forge Trilogy is going on my 2019 Favorite list. In fact, when I finished I said to myself “THIS is why I read.” Usually the second book in the series is filler and not a lot happens, but that certainly is NOT the case with Luck of the Devil. It was non-stop from beginning to end. Luck of the Devil had the perfect combination of action and suspense, twists and turns, secrets, romance, and hot sex. I wouldn’t change anything except I’d make Heart of the Devil come sooner!

"You're a once-in-a-lifetime find, India."

Rating: 5 Stars, 4.5 Heat, 5 Narration
