I absolutely loved this book. Everything was phenomenal from the writing to the plot to the characters. The pacing and the world building was perfect and the character relationships were so good.
I felt the chemistry between all of the characters. The sisters, Faron and Elara, would do anything for each other and I felt that throughout the story. Faron and her love interest's banter was so perfect for the slow burn and I love it so much. And Elara and her interest in her dragon-rider partner was also a fantastic slow burn. I was so invested in both of these relationships. And I loved that both sisters were queer with Faron being demisexual and Elara being a lesbian. It was beautiful representation.
I loved that I couldn't fully predict what was going to happen here. I think Cole did such a great job with Gael so that you could never really tell if he was actually going to be a bad guy or not so you were really riding the line with Faron as you read. It was really beautifully done.
And the magic system in this story is so fascinating. It reminded me of a combination of Legendborn and Fourth Wing and I loved Legendborn so much and the premise of Fourth Wing was great so that made this book really enjoyable as well.
I didn't realize that this was going to be a series so as I was getting to the end I was wondering how this was all going to wrap up so quickly which had me worried but I'm so glad that there's going to be another book and I can't wait to see what happens next.
