Badly Behaved by Meagan Brandy
5.0
“Bring on the blackout.”
I never thought I’d say this, but I’m so glad Meagan Brandy had a difficult time putting this story into a set trope or genre and even struggled with how to tease it...the mystery around this story heightened the experience and kept the pages turning for more.
It sounds so cliche, but Badly Behaved is truly unlike any book I’ve ever read before. You can definitely tell it’s a Meagan Brandy story - her style is so unique and immersive that it’s hard to put it down. This book is full of twists, turns, confusion, suspense and surprises that leave you questioning everything and trying to piece together clues to get your bearings. But, the disorienting nature of the story kept me sucked into the world, looking for even the smallest hint at what would happen next.
Jameson’s life is irrevocably changed by “The Blackout Boys” (Ransom, Beretta and Arsen) and everything that comes from their games, lifestyle, choices and outlook on life. These four help each other to grow and become the people they were meant to be, taking on each other’s emotional baggage and using it to make them all stronger. Their worlds couldn’t be more different - Jameson’s is one of privilege and excess and the boys’ is one of limitations and getting by - but their passion and connection to one another transcended those divides and made my heart happy. Even at their most broken points, they find a way to lean on each other and shoulder the pain to make it through and come out stronger together.
Badly Behaved is unique, heartbreaking, steamy, emotional and angsty in the best way. Really no review is going to do this story justice, so do yourself a favor and pick this one up. You will NOT be disappointed! Meagan Brandy came up with a phenomenal story here and really hoping to see more in this same vein from her in the future!
