Act Like It by Lucy Parker

4.0

At times I start to think that I have read too many romance novels. Nothing surprises me anymore. Everything seems like I read it before. And then a gem like 'Act Like It' falls into my lap (or into my Kindle?)...

LIKES:
✔ Adult, mature characters
✔ Interesting setting. Both characters are theater actors, not something that I encountered often in books.
✔ Grumpy hero.
✔ Heroine gives as good as it gets. Not a meek Mary Jane.
✔ I loved the heroine's narration. Her humor and sarcasm clicked with me.
"Couldn't agree with you more," he enthused. "Nothing more invigorating than an early morning run."
The poor man had obviously never had early morning sex. Or a caramel latte.

DISLIKES:
✘ Chemistry could have been better.
✘ Chapters from the hero's POV sounded too girly somehow. I did not have the impression that the narrator is male.
✘ Side characters are too black or white. Either good or bad. Too cliche.

In the end, I can not request too much from a short romance novel, and it delivered what I needed - a bit of fluff and laughter so I can forget for a moment a horrible situation happening in a world.
