3.75

Okay, if I could give halves here, this is a 3.5 because of the ending. Just add an epilouge and it's a solid 4, maaaaaaybe even 4.75.

I know many were comparing this to the JonBenet Ramsey case, and I totally agree, that gave some inspiration here. Of course, we don't know 100% details about that case and so I think we can safely say this book went a different direction (although, who know!)

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought the writing was fantastic - I stared it on audio but minutes in, I realized I needed to physically read it. I was entranced. Though I did get distracted from it (clear from my read dates) once I jumped back in, I devoured what I had left (which was most of the book, tbh).

I enjoyed the layers that were given, pretty much at every turn. While I like to try and figure it out, I do like to be surprised and find out I'm totally wrong. This book did that.

But that ending...

An epilogue would be much appreciated. That would easily move the rating higher. I do appreciate the author doing something different but in this case, I feel like I've been left to dangle at the edge of the cliff.

Is this a cliffhanger for a sequel? I wouldn't hate that, but, please, I must know!

(I do have other book apps where you may see this word-for-word review, because I am lazy, lol)
