Beastly Bones
by William Ritter
*3 stars*
“My hat was made from the wool of one of the sole surviving yeti of the Swiss Alps, dyed in ink mixed by Baba Yaga herself, and painstakingly knit by a wood nymph named Agatha, expressly for me.”
“You’re bothered about your hat?”
“It was a birthday present. It had sentimental value.”
That ending more than made up for the slow pacing in the middle. What I loved about this book was how so many moments caught me off guard —I gasped, I laughed out loud— it was a lot of fun. That said, I can’t rate it higher than this because I found the mystery a bit confusing, and while I loved a few parts, it didn’t really wow me.
