Glass Houses by Louise Penny
5.0
It probably happened before I even read this book, but add me to the list of Official Penny Pushers. Louise Penny is remarkable, her Three Pines series is incredible, and I am having the best time tackling this series with @runningandreading!
I've said it before and I'll probably say it after every book is completed, but this series just gets better and better the deeper you get. Somehow, LP manages to keep the timeless fresh even though we're usually in the same setting with the same main characters. How a town with so much murder still manages to be cozy is beyond me, but I would book a vacation here instantly if it actually existed!
There were some background pieces of some beloved characters revealed in this book, and with each revelation, the characters, town, and series just gets further cemented on your heart. I root for these people like I'm their personal cheerleaders and I just love how real LP has portrayed them. They have character flaws and they do questionable things, but they have hearts of gold. I was sobbing the last couple pages as the depth of Gamache and Isabelle's relationship was handled so tenderly.
This book gave me a huge moral dilemma to ponder, and while I'm not fully convinced the right thing was done, I appreciate the level of humanity, morality, and compassion was involved.
Needless to say, I cannot wait for next month when Tara and I will be continuing our Buddy Read and tackling everything LP has in store for us in Book #14!
