Sand by Hugh Howey

3.0

I had pretty high hopes for this book, after plowing through the entire Wool series in just a couple days. Howey releases another post-apocalyptic novel? Woo!

I was...really disappointed. And this is, in part, because we don't have the full story, yet. With Wool, I got to rush through the entire thing, no waiting. If things weren't explained all at once, they eventually were explained, and that was fine. With this, though, it's only the beginning, and Howey left so much unanswered in this first set, especially compared to Wool's first book. There was enough there in Wool to figure a lot of things out, but in Sand, the backstory is mostly hidden.

I will say that I plan to continue reading this series. This isn't exactly what I'd hoped, but Howey has a lot of credit, with me, so I'll tick it out until the sequel (which he is working on) arrives. Hopefully soon!
