Dark Eden by Chris Beckett

Oh boy. I HATED this book and I don't think you should read it. In essence, a (admittedly very cool) world is discovered by humans who then split with half attempting to return to earth and the other half staying and eventually creating a small population through incest (yeah). These people have "regressed" and are waiting for people from Earth to come and save them. But all it did was basically make the assertion that "primitive" people (as these people live off the land) are childish (they speak a babified form of English and are incapable of complex thought. These childish "primitive" people are waiting for proper, civilized people to come and help them solve their problems. Gross. This was the colonial approach to every indigenous group they came across and while I can suppose the author didn't intend this nevertheless that's all it comes across as. ⁣
