The Lies of Vampires and Slayers by K.M. Shea
4.0
It was a nice twist to see a character who isn’t charming and all capable, and instead suffers from self doubt and social anxiety. It was a bit intense at times, but a great touch all the same.
Another great element to this story was the lack of romance. Jade was a mature, adult woman and yet she was her own strong character. She didn’t need a man to complete her life, or save her from her many challenges and dangers, and Don’t get me wrong, there was a lot of romantic potential for the next books in the series but nothing happened in this novel.
My main complaint was the repetitiveness, at times it just felt like a predictable urban fantasy, where not much happens in between encounters, and I can guess how everything is going to end. There were also some details that didn’t quite add up to me
The ending wrapped the plot up nicely, while still leaving an intense cliffhanger, that made me want to get the next one ASAP, even though I'd basically given up on [a:K.M. Shea|6893644|K.M. Shea|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1479143546p2/6893644.jpg] until reading this novel.
I'd recommend this novel to young adults and adults who you enjoy urban fantasy, friendly banter, and strong female characters.
