Frostbite by Richelle Mead

Okay, as I heard this one was better then the first. I'm teetering around 3.5 stars. (Damn Goodreads for not offering half star ratings)

Beware, spoilers!

I liked Dmitri even more in this book, not surprisingly. I really really started to like Mason in this book, surprisingly. I never wanted Rose with Mason (I liked the idea of him and Mia), but his character really felt real to me. He was reckless and carefree... and fun. Needless to say, I sobbed. Rose's refusing to leave his body, and laying on him with the sword, I completely felt her pain. I was sad that he wasn't going to be a prevalent character in the next books.

I also love Christian, and I think him and Lissa are adorable.

I have to say that I'm getting so sick of the pounding in your head that dhampir have to be willing to give up everything to protect the Moroi. The whole mantra of 'They come first' is really pissing me off. I don't' understand why everyone is okay with forcing these kids to believe one race is more important then the other. I like Lissa, Christian, and Adrian. Hell I even like Mia... but why the hell are they so much more important in the grand scheme of things then Rose, Dmitri, and Mason are? It's creepy and screwed up and I feel like the whole concept of it is warped. The good news is that I think, or I suppose that I hope, that this becomes a plot point in the series because I'm sick of reading about how the Dhampir's give up everything because there's nobody more important then the Moroi.

okay, rant over... I liked it. I've already started Shadow Kiss.
