It feels a little disingenuous to give a 5 rating with caveats, but that's the only way I can actually acknowledge what a ride this book was. Another reader criticizes the writing in places, and this is justified criticism as I see it, but the overall inventiveness of the story is so crazy, confident and extraordinary that I couldn't put it down.
