The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon

4.0

I adored THE EX TALK by Rachel Lynn Solomon, and it's firmly ensconced with my favorite rom coms for its sharp banter, sarcastic humor, and delicious high concept.

Shay Goldstein, senior producer at her Seattle public radio station, pitches the idea of The Ex Talk to save her struggling station. The show, where two exes deliver relationship advice live, on air, is greenlit on the condition she co-hosts with her newest colleague and rival, Dominic Yun. They haven't dated, but they're always at each other's throats, so that's good enough, right? While neither wants to lie, it's this or unemployment, so they jump in. But the bigger their show gets, the bigger the lie... and the closer they become.

I came for the premise and stayed for the chemistry. Both Shay and Dominic felt so real and spoke to my millenial heart with their existential crises kept at bay by rescue dogs, wit, and, eventually, a deep and swoon-worthy connection.
