Our Bubbly Christmas by H.L. Packer

2.0

I got this one from a stuff your e-reader day last year and now read it for a fun short read.

I was expecting more spice, after the beginning there was mainly character introductions and Christmas preparations.

There were many confusing parts for me since I didn't know it's an addition to a full series so I didn't know anything about the characters in advance. It technically works as a standalone but it takes a lot of patience to wait until the characters' backgrounds are explained better. It was kind of expected that the reader knows he's a part of a mafia(?) family.

The student and teacher dynamic would've worked if they had been even just a little older. Now it just seemed like the FMC was trying to justify being with a teenager. The conflict of trying to say they're not really teens and actually adults and still calling them teenagers didn't really sit right with me. She also says the MMC had to grow up too early, yet later says she waited for him to grow from a boy to man when describing his relationship adventures. I also never found out how much older she actually is, it was always just said to be a few years.
