Emergency Contact by Lauren Layne

5.0

“The thing is,” he says softly, “I wanted to leave you. I meant to leave you. But then I realized how well I know you. And I know that if I left you here to die of your stubbornness, you’d commit yourself fully to haunting me for the rest of my days.” He smiles, and there’s something wistful about it as his gaze roams my face. “Hell, sometimes I think that fully alive, you’ve found a way to haunt me anyway.”

i don’t usually tear up when i read soft romances and ones with no deaths involved but my eyes stung once or twice (or ten times) while reading this book, especially katherine’s chapters. she’s my favorite character that lauren layne has written so far. and tom, thomas, tommy… i don’t know how other heroes will measure up to his standard for me after today. i wish i took my time with this one and let myself enjoy a couple more hours with it but great things always come to an end.
